Fort Party

A recent Friday was one of the best evenings I've had with my friends and all it took was a few sheets, bit of string and some fairy lights!

My friend Mark has been wanting to have a fort party for some time now and was particularly fuelled on by the Community episode in which an epic fort is built. All that was requested of us were sheets and alcohol!

Upon arriving, we all shouted out a variety of ideas to build such a fort to fit us all inside. As there were about 9 of us there, it all got a bit hilarious so us ladies went and began the making of rum hot chocolates.


If you've been following this blog, you will remember our wonderful discovery of rum hot chocolates around this time last year. You must try! We used Morgans Spice and of course whipped cream and marshmellows. For a yummy twist, we found Baileys rather tasty as well! Only downside is after a few they can leave you feeling rather sick!

In a horribly stereotypical fashion, the men constructed the fort whilst us girls ate marshmellows and heckled from the sidelines. Even though we mocked them largely, particularly when they trapped themselves into a corner, they did a marvellous job!


It was roomy, filled with duvets and cushion and adorned with fairy lights!




We spent the evening chatting and playing silly drinking games. If you haven't made a fort since you were 10, it's high time you got back into the fort building business. A perfect evening ♥

Festive Film Festival

One more week to go! Then I hit Christmas holidays and all kinds of fun festivities :) This weekend was my Festive Film Festival night, so Saturday I set about preparing.

I'd decided to have a go at making eggnog..I'd never made it before and the only time I'd tried anything like it was when I used to work in Starbucks and tasted the mix used for the lattes! But it was actually fairly easy and cheap, I used this recipe. The only problem I ran into was my lack of whisk but luckily Caketin brought me her electric one round so the day was saved :) The result? Delicious! I was pleasantly surprised and will hopefully make some for Christmas day...

We also had an abundance of mulled wine which is a bargainous £2 is Asda at the moment!

Pretty fairylights adorn everything in my flat right now...most of them stay up all year round as well!
I made cinnamon Christmas cupcakes which went down rather well despite them being a little flat! This picture is actually of my coffee and walnut ones made a couple of weeks ago..still my favourite :)
It was a really fun evening, the only problem being that we didn't actually get round to watching the film! But it was really good to catch up with everyone, make ridiculous jokes and generally ahve fun drinking and chatting :) I bloody love those people!

Last night I dug out some laptop fairy lights which my mum had given to me a couple of years ago..it's true. I am a little obsessed!

Distraction

Well today has been a fairly stressful day at work and it doesn't look like the week's going to get much better. So, in view of that I've decided to distract myself with pretty pictures and things that make me happy! Childish, but that's part of the fun right?! ;)

I have also recently realised I have far less fairy lights in my flat than I would like. Christmas time, I intend to bulk by and fill my world with tiny lights! (I'm also incredibly excited it's almost Christmas..huzzah!)

In other news, I am desperate for a chai tea latte (no water) and if it could come in a red Starbucks cup, so much the better :) I really wish I lived nearer to many coffee shops...that's the dream kids!

Sunday Crafting

Evening :)

I've had a bit of a crafting day today, which has been lovely seeing as it's been so long!

First up, I made a cute little flower headband. I've been looking around at how to make them but in the end just winged it and I think it came out alright! I even wore it to knitting club tonight :)

Glad I made it to knitting club (finally!), it was so pretty with fairy lights, vintage throws and cushions, Murder She Wrote on and lots of lovely cakes! There were lots more people there this time, the word is out :)

This is my scarf so far..it's the first thing I've ever knitted and it's taking me forever! But when I get going I do enjoy it :) It may turn into a cowl though....a scarf seems awfully long!

Bed time for me :) I've had the best, but most exhausting week off, sleep is needed!

Fairy Lights

I have a mild obsession with fairy lights, they're just so damn pretty! My favourite place to find them is Ikea, they always do really unusual ones with all different colours. Of course Christmas is a fab time of year to get hold of some at bargain prices. The clear ones will set you up all year round :)

Found out yesterday that the beautiful flat is officially mine to rent! Which means moving in one week and I have a ton to do! Sorted out all my clothes today, which is a mission in itself. I'm now banned from buying anything new for a very long time!

Hopefully tomorrow I'll paint my desk ready for next week. Bought some cute little Christmas trees yesterday, they're all bright and sparkly ♥
