Cupcakes, Comics and Car Boots ♥

I finally made some cupcakes!

After banging on about it for so long and sampling many others, I finally got my cook on and whipped up a batch :)

I found these rather lovely coloured cases in Asda....

(I also ended up buying matching nail varnishes, but shhhhh!)

After baking some little cakes, I attempted to match up the colour of the icing with the case....and then covered with sprinkles, yum :)

I even got a bit creative with some more headband making. I ♥ the colour of this one, I even wore it out that night :)

This weekend was spent with friends and family. Saturday was a road trip and some comic book geekery with the best people ♥ before heading back for pizza, music anthems and youtube silliness! They even let me take lots of photos with my Fuji Instax Mini :)

Sunday was Mother's Day so I spent a lovely day hunting through a car boot sale with the family. My mum is quite the bargain hunter and made some fab purchases. I found a War of the Worlds LP which I almost couldn't bear to put back, but it was a little overpriced....maybe I'll be brave enough to haggle next time!

Spring Love ♥

I feel happier already :)

This week has been long and at times unpleasant, but the beautiful spring like weather has vastly improved it!

Last week we had nothing but rain, but I'm glad it got itself out the way, as this week has been bright and sunny, staying lighter every day. My favourite seasons are Autumn and then Spring, I love the clear blue skys with a bit of a chill in the air ♥

The fashions are also particulalry lovely this year, with ruffles, lace and muted pastels, all topped off with a vintage headband ;) My favourite combinations are nude, pale pink, cream and mint. I have yet to try (still can't let go of my obsession for everything nautical) but it's something to look forward to :) I think I'll make some spring headbands very soon!

So pretty! Hopefully this weekend will involve a country outing so I can take some of my own Spring pictures...

Sunday Crafting

Evening :)
I've had a bit of a crafting day today, which has been lovely seeing as it's been so long!

First up, I made a cute little flower headband. I've been looking around at how to make them but in the end just winged it and I think it came out alright! I even wore it to knitting club tonight :)

Glad I made it to knitting club (finally!), it was so pretty with fairy lights, vintage throws and cushions, Murder She Wrote on and lots of lovely cakes! There were lots more people there this time, the word is out :)

This is my scarf so far..it's the first thing I've ever knitted and it's taking me forever! But when I get going I do enjoy it :) It may turn into a cowl though....a scarf seems awfully long!

Bed time for me :) I've had the best, but most exhausting week off, sleep is needed!

New Materials :)

I am loving this weekend so far...

Friday night, we went to a gig which was really good...I even had my favourite song played for me :) Then it was back to mine for drinks and general silliness! I seriously love my friends ♥

Saturday, after nursing a horrendous headache (self inflicted), it was lunch at our favourite pub then out for a spot of shopping. I managed to get some more materials for headband making and I'm quite excited about it!

Aren't the strawberries so cute?!

Today I've had a lazy morning watching Big Love and a little bit of crafting. I've been trying to figure out how to make fabric flowers/rosettes. Below is my first attempt with my least favourite fabric ofthe bunch, just in case it went pear shaped!

It was an incredibly simple one to do (just lots of gathering) but I've found a few other styles which I'm going to try when I have more time :)

Off for coffee now with my favourite Sunday crowd, I've been craving a cinammon latte...

Hope you weekend has been awesome :)

Something New for the Weekend...

I was a bit of busy bee during my snow days and have made 2 more headbands :)

The first one is using a badge that I found in Accessorize in the sale. I've taken off the safety pin (it was too heavy of the ribbon) and stitched it onto a black piece of satin ribbon. With all my headbands, I use ribbon and a small bit of elastic sewn in which hides nicely at the back :) It just means a better fit to your head!

The second headband was a bit more work, but something I had wanted to do for a while. It's a bit of a cross between the military and nautical theme which you see a lot of these days (and I am obsessed with both!). I used blue satin ribbon, a length of gold cord and the gold fastenings. I made the blue headband first, then stitched the gold cord in place. I only stitched it in about 4 places, just to keep it in the middle. I then sewed the fastening into place :)

I have to say, I think I'll avoid satin ribbon in future as it's tends to be very slippy and doesn't always stay on my head very well! Might be an idea, if you want that look, to double it up with a matt ribbon underneath.

Run out of ribbon now, but have lots more ideas :) Now the snow's clearing I might be able to get to the shops! Going to try and carry on with knitting in the meantime.

Cup of tea time, my friends! Hope your weekend is lovely :)

Hello again...

Oh my, it's been a while since I've been on here! Been so busy recently, that when I get home, I don't have the energy to blog but hopefully that will change :)

Had a lovely Christmas with friends and family, they're the best :) A little late, but here is a pic of my lovely tree...I'm about to take it down, boo :(

I have been getting a little crafty (heh) recently and making some of my headbands that I got overly excited about! Here are the two I've made so far:

The top one is my favourite I think :) I have plans for some more vintage 20's flaper inspired ones , musical notes and military (found the cutest rosette the other day!). They only take about 30mins to make and I'm rather in love with them ♥

Went to my first Knitting Club fairly recently and loved it :) Very relaxing and yet ultra quirky and cool! Unfortunately as with many of my projects, I started knitting lots and haven't picked it up in many weeks. However, I need to get my bum in gear, as we're apparently moving onto hats soon and all I've knitted is 6inches of a scarf! A few quiet nights in and I'll get the buzz again :)

Sadly I cannot update with any inspirational pics at the moment, as my right click has broken (beyond annoying!) so I'm going to look out my window again and check for any more snow! I ♥ it!

Headbands

I'm a little bit obsessed...

I have an ever growing collection and when I see a new one I love, I have trouble resisting! But with my new money saving life, I must...
So my plan is to make them instead! There are lots of beautiful designs out there, and some of them look super easy to make (I hope). It's my new project to keep me occupied, although sometimes my sewing skils leave a lot to be desired!
Here are some pretty ones I like...

I also secretly want a birdcage...shhh

I can't remember where I found this one but it caught my eye immediately, I love the colours. If I have a go at this one though, I think I'll just do the leaves on half of the band.

Elsie has also made some lovely ones recently for RVA...I particularly love the blue felt one. I also envy her ability to wear them over her hair, I never seem to get that technique quite right!

I want to wear headbands every day ♥
Tomorrow I think I'm going to have a hunt for supplies..I'll keep you updated!
